Linda has been a nutrition consultant in private practice since 1999, providing individualized counseling services to self-referred clients, hospitals, physician groups, and home health care agencies, along with conducting educational wellness seminars for corporations and small businesses in the metro Detroit area.  She also facilitates a monthly diabetes support group at Our Lady of Sorrows church in Farmington, MI and maintains an online wellness blog.  Most recently, she became a nutrition columnist for Diabetic Life  magazine, published a health and wellness book entitled, "You Gotta Eat!", and co-authored "Eating Well with Scleroderma" with Dinesh Khanna, MD, in association with The University of Michigan Scleroderma Program and The National Scleroderma Foundation.

 

Linda's educational background and credentials include earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Michigan in 1991, Michigan Secondary Teaching Certification, a Master of Science degree in Nutritional Science from the University of Michigan, School of Public Health in 1998, followed by becoming a Registered Dietitian (RD), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), and certified insulin pump trainer.  She is a professional member of the American Dietetic Association and American Diabetes Association and an active volunteer with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).  Linda taught high school Biology, Chemistry, and Physics for several years prior to pursuing a career in dietetics, gaining substantial experience in curriculum development and public speaking, two skills essential for her career as it is today. 

As a lifelong health and fitness enthusiast, Linda enjoys sharing her knowledge, insights, and experience with others seeking to adopt a healthier lifestyle.  While she is knowledgeable in all areas of  nutrition and wellness, Linda specializes in the prevention & management of chronic disease, such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and digestive disorders, along with a personal passion for sports nutrition and athletic performance.  As a qualified professional who can easily separate fact from fiction, Linda is not shy stating her opinion on the latest diet fad or nutrition trend.  In keeping with the ethical rules of the dietetic profession, she never subscribes to, nor recommends, any questionable or unsafe health practices.
